The present Official Mexican Standard Draft establishes the specifications related to the Equipment Manufacturing Identity Code (IMEI), as well as the non-blocking requirement of the FM radio broadcast receiver functionality of the Mobile Terminal Equipment that may use the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications network, as well as the test methods to verify in compliance with said specifications and requirements outlined in Technical Provision IFT-011-2017: Specifications of mobile terminal equipment that may use Of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. Part 1. Equipment Manufacturing Identity Code (IMEI) and Functionality of Sound Broadcasting Receiver in Frequency Modulation (FM), published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on April 27, 2017.
The above with the aim of protecting the communications giving certainty that Mobile Terminal Equipment that is introduced and marketed in the national territory do have a unique and valid IMEI and consequently, such equipment can be unequivocally identified, being able to block it when there is a report of theft or loss.
Likewise, the non-blocking of FM receiver functionality will allow users to access FM broadcasted content at no cost and (without using their mobile data plan) as well as receive, if necessary, alerts in case Emergency or disaster.
