By means of the program Beca Universal de Educación Básica Rita Cetina, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP, for its Spanish acronym), through the Coordinación Nacional de Becas para el Bienestar Benito Juárez, contributes to improve the access to social rights, in education specifically, established in the Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos and the Ley General de Educación.
The Program aims to encourage children and adolescents enrolled in a school classified as (i) a priority school, or (ii) a school susceptible to attention and whose family is low-income, to remain and/or complete this type of education, by granting a scholarship.
This program grants $1,900.00 (One thousand nine hundred pesos 00/100 M.N.) every two months for each family that has at least one child enrolled in some level of Elementary School, at schools classified as a priority or as susceptible to attention that was incorporated into the Program in 2025 or earlier and $1,000.00 (One thousand pesos 00/100 M.N.) every two months for each newly family incorporated in 2026 that has at least one child enrolled in elementary school or middle school. In addition, (i) starting from the January - February 2026 period, if the family has children enrolled in secondary school and/or in fourth, fifth and/or sixth grade of primary school (including CAM), they will receive $700.00 (seven hundred pesos 00/100 M.N.) every two months, starting with the second child; or, (ii) starting from the September - October 2026 period, if the family has children enrolled in first, second and/or third grade of primary school (including CAM) and/or in another grade of primary or secondary school, they will receive $700.00 (seven hundred pesos 00/100 M.N.) every two months, starting with the second child.
