The present Draft Decree granting the National Sports Award 2025 aims to recognize the effort, dedication, and outstanding achievements of Mexican individuals linked to the field of sports, in accordance with the Law on Awards, Incentives and Civil Distinctions and the Organic Law of the Federal Public Administration.
Issued by the President of the United Mexican States, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, with the countersignature of the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, this Decree constitutes an administrative and honorary act, which does not impose regulatory burdens, obligations, or compliance costs on private individuals.
The National Sports Award 2025 will be granted in the following seven categories:
a) Non-professional sport;
b) Professional sport;
c) Paralympic sport;
d) Coach;
e) Judge-referee;
f) Outstanding career in Mexican sports; and
g) Promotion, protection, or advancement of sports practice.
Each category recognizes athletes, coaches, judges, referees, and promoters who have significantly contributed to the development of national sports, strengthening Mexico’s prestige in the international arena.
The expenditures related to the implementation of this Decree will be covered by the approved budget of the Secretariat of Public Education, requiring no additional resources and having no budgetary impact on other government entities or private actors.
In summary, this draft decree establishes an institutional mechanism for moral encouragement of Mexican sports, reaffirming the Government of Mexico’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and the development of athletic talent, through public recognition of merit, discipline, and excellence in national sports.
