The Agreement establishes the rules pertaining to the composition, operations, and powers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Evaluation Committee for Consular Protection Assistance cases requiring financial support in excess of five thousand U.S. Dollars. The Committee aims to strengthen consular protection through a mechanism based on the joint efforts of heads of different administrative offices within the purview of said Ministry. It is charged with the assessment and authorization of financial support for legal or emergency assistance cases in excess of five thousand U.S. Dollars. The agreement repeals it's previous version, which entered into force in 2010, and increases transparency, and improves accountability and efficiency pertaining to the use of resources allocated for the purposes of consular protection of Mexican Nationals abroad.
