The Professional Teaching Development Programme (PRODEP) is an initiative from SEP for leading, training and updating teaching staff at elementary, middle, high school and college level, as well as improving the quality of teaching training at early stages through the development of strategic actions involved in the real academic practice and the management of Escuelas Nacionales Públicas.
PRODEP acknowledges teachers as main subjects in the academic process and contributors to social change. With this programme, the right to access an educational and up-to-date integral system is granted in order to fulfill objectives from the national educational system.
This programme has as its main objective to develop and grant knowledge, capabilities, attitude and skills to teachers, technicians, administrators, supervisors, pedagogical assessing staff in order to fulfill their tasks at any stage in different contexts in the intercultural environment, from gender perspective and human rights through updating and educational programmes. Furthermore, in case of high studies, access to research projects.
As for elementary, middle and high school, this programme offers a series of workshops, courses and certificates according to the needs of the teaching staff.
In Higher Education, support is provided for high-quality postgraduate studies, support for the incorporation of new full-time professors and reinstatement of ex-fellows, and recognition for Full-time Professors who have the desirable profile, so that they reach the research capabilities-teaching, technological development and innovation with social responsibility. On the other hand, it helps the full-time professors to articulate and consolidate in investigation groups that advance in their degree of consolidation to generate a new academic community capable of transforming their environment. Furthermore, this program helps the Public Institutions of Higher Education, particularly the Intercultural Universities, through the support of comprehensive projects that promote the quality of their academic capacity and competitiveness and their main management and community engagement processes.
