Existen restricciones fitosanitarias para la movilización nacional y exportación de aguacate a otros países, por la presencia del barrenador grande del hueso del aguacate (Heilipus lauri), barrenador pequeño del hueso del aguacate (Conotrachelus aguacatae y C. perseae) y de la palomilla barrenadora del hueso (Stenoma catenifer). De conformidad con los cuatro supuestos señalados en el artículo 107 del Reglamento de la Ley Federal de Sanidad Vegetal, no existe presencia del barrenador grande del hueso del aguacate, barrenador pequeño del hueso del aguacate o de la palomilla barrenadora del hueso y se mantiene la condición fitosanitaria de zona libre en las entidades federativas y municipios del territorio nacional que se mencionan en el referido Acuerdo. Por lo tanto, al reconocerse como zonas libres, se cumple el objetivo de conservar los estatus fitosanitarios de las zonas aguacateras de México, así como proteger el comercio nacional e internacional del aguacate.
