By means of the Programa de Becas Elisa Acuña, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP for its Spanish acronym), through the Coordinación Nacional de Becas para el Bienestar Benito Juárez, contributes to improve the access to social rights, specifically education, established in the Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos and the Ley General de Educación.
The Program aims to ensure that students, graduates, teaching staff, teachers - researchers, researchers and / or personnel with management functions (directors) of institutions of basic, upper secondary and / or higher education of the National Educational System to remain, graduate, carry out their social service, professional practices, dual education, achieve academic improvement, be trained and / or carry out research through a scholarship.
The Program grants its beneficiary population 90 different types of scholarships, which are delivered through its thirteen (13) responsible units: 1) the Coordinación Nacional de Becas para el Bienestar Benito Juarez, 2) CETI, 3) CINVESTAV, 4) COFAA – IPN, 5) COLMEX, 6) SEP – DGEIIB, 7) SEP - DGPEMPC, 8) IPN, 9) SEP - SEMS, 10) UAAAN, 11) UAM, 12) UNAM and 13) UPN. Each Responsible Unit establishes the modality, target population, amount, and frequency of each scholarship according to the needs detected by each one.
