La Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, en ejercicio de sus atribuciones de normalización, elaboró el Proyecto de modificación de la Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-022-STPS-2008, Electricidad estática en los centros de trabajo-Condiciones de seguridad, para quedar como PROY-NOM-022-STPS-2014, Electricidad estática en los centros de trabajo-Condiciones de seguridad. El objetivo del Proyecto establecer las condiciones de seguridad en los centros de trabajo para prevenir los riesgos por electricidad estática, así como por descargas eléctricas atmosféricas. Esta Norma regirá en todo el territorio nacional y será aplicable en las áreas de los centros de trabajo donde se almacenen, manejen o transporten sustancias inflamables o explosivas, o en aquéllas en que, por la naturaleza de sus procesos, materiales y equipos, sean capaces de almacenar o generar cargas eléctricas estáticas. Se ha previsto que este instrumento no aplique en vehículos automotores, ferroviarios, embarcaciones y/o aeronaves utilizados para el transporte terrestre, marítimo, fluvial o aéreo, competencia de la Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes.

e Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, in exercising its powers of standardization, prepared the Draft Amendment to Mexican Official Standard NOM-022-STPS-2008, Static electricity in the workplace-safety conditions, to read as PROY Nom-022-STPS-2014, Static electricity in the workplace-safety conditions. The objective of the project to establish the security conditions in the workplace to prevent risks from static electricity, as well as lightning strikes. This rule shall apply throughout the national territory and shall apply in the areas of the workplace where they stored, handled or carrying flammable or explosive substances, or those in which, by the nature of their processes, materials and equipment, are capable store or generate static electric charges. It is envisaged that this instrument does not apply to motor vehicles, railways, ships and / or aircraft used for land, sea, river or air transport, competence of the Ministry of Communications and Transport vehicles.
