The Mexican National Water Comission (CONAGUA), will issue general agreements for actions to be taken to ensure the supply of domestic and urban public use of water and carry out, with the stakeholders, the appropriate actions. Thus, the objective of this agreement is that the Mexican National Water Commission reports on the watersheds in which the presence of an abnormal natural situation generated by a severe drought period at the begging of 2017, in order to activate the actions required in those areas. The definition of the watersheds where there is drought, is based on the Drought Monitor of Mexico information, member of the North American Drought Monitor. The Drought Monitor of Mexico allows to determine the presence of a period of drought and characterize its forms as: severe, extreme or exceptional and it also points, with a geographical precision, the watersheds as well as the affected municipalities.
